“Happiness cannot be identified with pleasure.” ~Aristotle.
Happiness and pleasure are two very different emotions, some of the biggest differences between the two being:
1. Happiness comes from within, pleasure comes from outside.
2. Happiness depends upon the path you choose, the grueling the path, the more happiness you earn at the end. Pleasure has nothing to do with the path.
3. Happiness is always earned, pleasure is not necessarily earned.
4. There is always a reward associated with happiness, there’s no reward with pleasure.
5. Excess pleasure will hurt you, excess happiness never hurts.
Watching television, eating a scrumptious dinner, going to movies is not happiness, it’s pleasure.
Eating one Delmonico’s steak will give you pleasure, eat five and you may need to see the doctor.
After working hard for years seeing your business flourish in five countries is happiness. The more it grows, the happier you become.
