Researchers have found that there are two kinds of Happiness; Natural Happiness and Synthetic Happiness.
“Natural Happiness” is the type of emotion that you feel when you get something you want. Like when you pass a test, succeed in getting a job you covet, when you eat or drink something delicious etc.
According to Dr Dan Gilbert (a happiness researcher,) synthetic happiness is the type of happiness you experience when you are happy even when you haven’t got what you wanted. For e.g. you worked hard but failed a test. You have no reason to be happy, but you are still happy. How can it happen?
In the book “Unwind” Dr Michael Olpin tells the story about a student who got a D in his test in-spite of studying hard for days. After he was in despair, he got to his car. It was late October the trees were in autumn mode – changing colours brilliantly… The joy of the moment displaced his anger and fear, and he was happy.
You can always synthesize happiness any time you want. Let’s synthesize some happiness now & #FeelHearty
