In 1957, a group of buddhist monks were trying to move a 5 ton clay statue of Buddha in a deserted temple.
While moving the statue it inadvertently fell on the ground. The horror of monks soon turned to surprise when they saw something shining beneath the cracked clay. When they chiseled it, a solid gold buddha was revealed.
Centuries ago monks covered this Buddha with clay to hide it from the invading Burmese army. All the monks got killed by the army and the secret of the statue was lost. It was revealed only when the statue got broken.
